Springfield House in Pilling was the beautiful setting for the marriage of Nicola Hughes and Wayne Mayler.

Nicola, 43, and a civil servant met Wayne, 46, a warehouse and shipping manager, online in 2006.

At the time, Nicola had just lost her dad and was at her lowest ebb , but Wayne made her laugh again and romance blossomed.

They became engaged at a family barbecue organised for Nicola. It was a complete surprise.

With a small budget, the couple made lots of their own decorations, Nicola decorated the wedding cake and with the savings were able to bring a magician to the recpetion and the children all recieved teddy bears.

They also enjoyed a Mr and Mrs game, a candy cart, popcorn cart and a sweet table.

The Marton couple made sure music was a central part to their day and brought some of their favourite songs to the proceedings.

Amongst others they included John Legend, All of Me as the entrance song and Queen’s You’re My Best Friend for after the ceremony.

Their first dance was Lonestar, Amazed by You.

Nicola said: “Wayne had always said he never wanted to marry, so for him to change his mind to marry me meant so much.

“It was a fabulous day, totally stress free as there were no formalities other than the ceremony.

“We had a relaxed afternoon in the gardens chilling in the sunshine with family and friends - just perfect.

“The adopt me teddies for the kids to take home went down a storm and the smiles on their faces was just a pleasure to see.

“I just want to do it all again and I wouldn’t change any of it.

“I married my rock and my best friend that day.”

Wayne added: “We did it our way, not forced to do anything we didnt want to.

“It was such a relaxed day, just how we wanted it to be with no stress. I got to marry my best friend and as Nikki had made everything it was much more personal and meaningful.”

They honeymooned in Llandudno.
