Blackpool set for showers and windy weather over weekend

Just as we were all getting used to all that lovely hot weather and blue skies, the weather turned - and things don't look to great for Saturday here in Blackpool either.

According to various sources, including the BBC and the Met Office, there will be a good chance of showers and very breezy weather.

The Met Office forecasts the most rain to fall on Saturday morning, with 90 per cent chance of rain between 5am and 7am, dipping to 60 per cent by around 8am.

There will seemingly be a bit of a reprieve after that, with the chances of rain hovering between 10 per cent and 40 per cent for the rest of the day.

Temperatures during the day will be around 14 degrees (c), with winds forecast to average around 25 miles per hour for much of the day, making the temperature feel a little cooler than it actually is.

Winds will gust at average of 35mph from 9am, with the fiercest gusts (50pmh) expected earlier, between 3am and 4am.

So the crowds may not be flocking to the resort afterall.

Sunday is expected to be similar, with a 50 per cent chance of rain between 4am and 10am, but then falling to an average of 20 per cent from 1pm onwards.

As well as these possible outbreaks of rain, it will be a little milder and slightly less windy than Saturday.

Typically, the weather looks set to pick up on Monday, although it will still be cloudy.
