A spokesman said: “Another area of low pressure is expected to move east close to the north of Scotland during Monday, bringing an increase in the winds to many northern parts of the UK during Monday morning. The most likely area for localised minor impacts from the strong and gusty winds is over and to the east of high ground in southern Scotland and northern England during the morning, coinciding with the rush hour in some places.

“After a lull during the afternoon, further strong and gusty southwesterly winds will return to similar areas later on Monday evening.”
