Blackpool and The Fylde College employed the duo, despite their tender years, to show off the range of courses available at the university centre.

The college, which was last year deemed to be “outstanding” according to education inspectorate Ofsted, is hoping to promote graduate career opportunities and raise aspirations in Blackpool, with the slogan #BeSomebody.

Chloe Evans, four, and George Holland, five, have been filming across the college’s two main campuses, lip-synching to the 1980s Police Academy song ‘I’m Gonna Be Somebody’ by Jack Mack and The Heart Attack.

The duo were dressed to depict the range of roles Blackpool and The Fylde College courses lead to, including construction, sport, PR and TV.

They were chosen after auditioning through Thornton theatre school Victoria’s Academy of Dance and Performing Arts, on Holly Road.

George’s mum, academy owner Victoria Holland, said: “George is a complete character and was so excited to be in the TV advert. He is so full of energy and really is passionate about acting.”

And plucky George added: “ I think I did everything right for the filming and I didn’t want it to end… I really think I can be somebody!”

The advert has been filmed and produced by North West production company Seal Films, who work closely with the college.

Dave Barrow, Director of Seal Films, said “We wanted to produce something which was completely different to anything we had ever done before. College and university adverts are usually quite dull so we wanted to introduce an element of fun.

“We’re really glad the College were eager to get involved and break the mould of traditional education adverts.

“When we met Chloe and George at the auditions, we were completely blown away – we had never worked with children as young as them before so it was astounding to see how talented they were.”

Now the college is hoping viewers will take to social networking site Twitter to use the hashtag #BeSomebody to give feedback on the ad, to be aired on Granada TV between May 30 and June 6.
