A beach-goer was helped to safety after getting into difficulties in the sea near Central Pier, says the Coastguard.
Coastguard rescue officers were tasked with a rescue at around 7.40pm on Sunday, July 8.
One person was reported to be in the water and another member of the public is believed to have gone to their rescue.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: "We were called to reports of somebody in the water on the north side of the pier, with another person going to their assistance.
"They were part of a group and one of the members went into the sea to help the casualty.
"The Coastguard Rescue Team and the lifeboat were paged but thankfully they had already been helped to safety.
"Officers checked them over, but they did not suffer any injuries."
The Coastguard says it is not known how the person came to be in the water.
