Why: Cheerleading is a fun activity which is motivational and builds team spirit.

How it works: Cheerleading can be performed to motivate sports teams, to entertain the audience, or for competition. Competitive routines typically range anywhere from one to three minutes, and contain components of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers, and stunting.

Benefits: Cheering the team to victory as well as staying healthy and physically fit can help boost self-esteem. Cheerleading also improves your strength. Many cheer teams carry out strength training and conditioning exercises regularly to build the muscles needed to perform stunt sequences, tumbling passes and jumps. Over a period of time these moves will build powerful muscles in the lower body, shoulders and core. It also teaches coordination through cheers, dancing and stunt sequences and helps improve flexibility.
