Fleetwood Gym Warriors Under-11s were so heartened to find out what Fleetwood charity Mustard Seed group did, they decided to do their bit to help.The Mustard Seed Group supports homeless and lonely people in Fleetwood by providing hot meals every week at St Peter’s Parish Church.It has also just opened its first shop in Victoria Street.The children were keen to collect food for the group so raided their family kitchen cupboards and added extra tins to the shopping trollies .In just under a week, they had collected three boxes full.As well as dried food, the hampers contained lots of tins, jars, crisps, snacks and breakfast cereal.Once packed into hampers the team then delivered the produce to the shop following one of their games.Team manager Darren Williamson said: “I’m really proud of the lads and how they’ve come together to help such a worthy cause.“I hope that we can continue to help support the Mustard Seed Group. “The lads are mates on and off the pitch and it shows. “We also have a great parent group who always pull together.”Team vice captain Finley Beardsworth, 10, said: “It’s important that we try and help people have a better life.”The Warriors are a busy bunch this year and as well as continuing to support the Mustard Seed Group, they are busy fund-raising to go on tour in May 2019.They hope to take part in the ESF Tour in Skegness.The Mustard Seed shop is at 37A Victoria Street, near Fleetwood Market, and opens Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.Hot meal sessions are held at St Peter’s Parish Church in Lord Street on Mondays from 6.30pm.
