A waiter accused of grooming young girls has made his first appearance in court.

Wayne Corkhill, 22, of Lord Street, Blackpool, faces three charges of contacting a girl under the age of 16 with a view to meeting up and committing a sexual offence on the child.

Corkhill is alleged to have contacted a 10-year-old girl and two 12-year-old girls over the internet between June 1 and 26.

He is alleged to have met up with the two 12-year-old girls on Blackpool’s Central Pier and chased them and tried to kiss them.

Corkhill is also alleged to have asked the 10-year-old girl to go round to his flat for hugs and kisses.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

Defence lawyer, Gary McAnulty, said his client pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Corkhill was remanded in custody by Blackpool magistrates.

He will appear at Preston Crown Court on June 30.
