Volvo left charred shell after it goes up in flames

These pictures show the devastation caused when a large Volvo car went up in flames.

The Volvo estate car was parked at the back of a garage forecourt, the fire service said

Firefighters from Lytham station were called to the blazing car, at the back of the Townsend Garage forecourt in Lytham Road, Warton, at around 5.30pm on Monday.

It was already well alight by the time they arrived, a spokesman said, and the crews used two hose reel jets to put out the flames.

Nobody was hurt, and the cause of the fire was yesterday under investigation.

The inside was nothing more than a charred shell following the fierce fire

Photos taken at the scene show how the car was left a hollowed, charred mess.

They also reveal how the steering wheel, gear-stick, dashboard and even the side panels all melted in the heat. Only the metal frames of the seats remained inside the car. A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said there was no record of officers attending.
