Green-fingered volunteers have helped spruce up an eyesore on their estate.

They joined forces with Blackpool Council and action charity Groundwork to transform a patch of green space opposite the Chepstow Road shops on Grange Park.

Residents Lee Richardson and Peter Kinsey used tools, plants, planter boxes, compost and paint which was supplied by the council,

Lee said: “We are currently forming a group called VBEST (Volunteer Blackpool Environmental Street Team) and this is an example of what we can do with a little bit of people power.

“We are made up of local residents who volunteer their own time to keep our estate clean alongside Blackpool Council.

“We also aim to improve people’s view of our estate where we live.

“Because of this work, Grange Park is becoming one of the cleanest areas of Blackpool. We would like to repeat this service in other areas and would need volunteers who live in these areas to make this happen.”
