The hospice, which provides end of life care for children across the Fylde coast, is inviting people to sign up for a gruelling nine-day trek along the Great Wall of China in October next year.

The event will be the first overseas challenge held in aid of Brian House.

Janet Atkins, corporate fundraiser at Brian House, who is both organising and taking part in the hike, said: “Everyone’s idea of a challenge is different and we thought putting an overseas challenge out there would appeal to a wider audience.

“We would like to raise in excess of £30,000. My personal target is £3,500, which covers a day’s care in Brian House.”

Zoe Corry, 28, who is taking part in the trip, said: “My little boy was born prematurely at 24 weeks and when we came out of the hospital we were offered respite at Brian House. Knowing that they were there was a great comfort.”
