The indoor lights show Illuminasia is launching audio guided tours of its Winter Gardens attraction.
Having recently announced its extension in the resort for a further two years, Illuminasia is launching its latest development touch tours with experienced local guides.
Illuminasia, which opened in April, features a blend of traditional Chinese lantern crafts with the latest in lighting technology, covering more than 4,100 square metres.
Divided into six magical zones, Illuminasia was built by 78 artisans over 45 days using the ancient skills from the Zigong province of China.
Philip Harrison, general manager, said: “We consistently strive to create new opportunities for as many people to enjoy the artistry created by our artisans as possible, and our new touch tours provide an opportunity for members of visually impaired community to enjoy what has been created.”
The tours, which take place this December, will be led by experienced local guides Pat Hayes and Kate Wilsden, who have worked with many businesses and attractions across Blackpool on accessible initiatives.
Coun John Jones, Blackpool Council cabinet member for equalities, said: “Audio description allows people, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to, to share in something that we all enjoy.
“I’m very pleased that Illuminasia have been able to arrange these tours and I hope all our Blackpool attractions are thinking about how we can improve their service for people with disabilities.”
The first audio described tours will take place on Thursday from 10am. Pre-booking is essential via the Illuminasia box office or by calling 01253 629801.
