Village signs-off a busy summertime

Zoe Clifford, Penny Farm visitor officer, said there was a fantastic turnout for the event, held on Saturday at the Preston New Road farm.

She said: “We had a fabulous day with over 1,500 visitors who turned out and joined in with the medieval spirit.

“The people of the Fylde are fabulous supporters of World Horse Welfare – its great that so many people joined us and helped to raise over £6,000 which will go directly to help the ever increasing numbers of horses who need to be rescued from welfare situations.

“We are really grateful for their support.”

Local Scout groups got into the spirit in the stocks and the Cuerden Birds of Prey was a popular attraction.

Visitors were also entertained throughout the day with different shows.

There were displays by the World Horse Welfare horses and ponies , including a spectacular final display by the Atkinson Action Horses.

Saxon Archers were offering visitors the chance to have a go at archery and a local team called Fylde Agility entertained dog lovers at the event with a dog agility area.

Members of Blackpool Vehicle Preservation Society were also there.
