The old St Mary's Church hall in Church Lane, Hambleton, faces demolition.

Developers say a new church hall nearby has left the building [pictured] ‘redundant’, and want to flatten it before building two detached homes in its place, paperwork lodged with Wyre Council said.

A total of six car parking spaces are also planned.

A previous planning application was submitted in October 2016 and sought permission to demolish the hall and build one new house, which was approved in January this year.

“The site currently hosts a redundant building which aesthetically is in a poor condition and detracts from the character of the area,” documents added.

“The addition of a second dwelling within the site will not in any way have a significant impact on the character or appearance of the immediate or surrounding.

“The proposed dwellings have been sensitively designed but with a contemporary twist and will serve to enhance the character and setting of this part of the village.”
