A village clerk from the Fylde has been honoured with a top national job.
Alan Blakeley, who has been clerk for Staining Parish Council since January 1993, has been appointed President of the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) which he has been a member of for 15 years.
In 2009 he became the Lancashire branch member on the National Executive Council (NEC) wich he served as a cabinet member of the publications group, and the CEO selection committee.
Alan has also been the branch mentoring and the branch chairman for seven years.
Staining councillor Coun John Singleton said: “Alan regard this as a great honour not only for himself but also for Lancashire branch of SLCC and equally for Staining Parish Council.
“The highlight of his year of office will be when he attends by invitation the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) International Conference in May 2017 in Montreal, Canada.
“This is at no cost whatsoever to the residents of Staining but will bring a great deal of prestige to Staining.”
