The competition is an exciting initiative for secondary schools across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast, sponsored by Centrica and Cuadrilla Resources, in association with Blackpool and The Fylde College.

There is a fantastic prize fund of £12,000 up for grabs for local schools, courtesy of Centrica and Cuadrilla Resources, to improve facilities within your STEM department and nurture the engineers of the future.

Schools are asked to nominate a team of four students from Year 9 and/or 10 to represent your school in the challenge, which will take place on Monday February 10th 2014 at Blackpool and The Fylde College.

The most successful teams will then be invited to take part in the final on Thursday March 6th 2014 when one school will win the top prize of £10,000 with the runner up taking away a £2,000 prize.

Plus, we have a twist on last year’s campaign. This year the challenge will be an undisclosed task – exact details of what the students will need to do will not be revealed until the event day!

The main objective of the project is to encourage students to enjoy the challenge of problem solving, whilst using science and mathematics whilst working as a team.
