Members at Kirkham-based Elisabeth Marsden Centre for Dance and Fitness held a four-hour danceathon and raised more than £850 for Diabetes UK.

Teacher Elisabeth Marsden said: “It was a fantastic event and it was a pleasure to raise money for Diabetes UK, as we have dancers with diabetes and my family has had personal experience of the devastating effects of the condition.”

Class member Max Elvy, aged 10, who was diagnosed with type one diabetes at just four years old, said: “I love coming to all my dance classes and Latin and Street are my favourites.

“It helps me keep my diabetes under control.

“I have fun and keep fit all at the same time.
