Police pursued a van after seeing the vehicle being driven at high speed towards them in the town centre.
Kyle Wraight, 27, of South Square, Layton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and not in accordance with his licence. Inquiries revealed Wraight’s licence had been revoked.
He was banned from the road for 17 months and fined £180 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the incident happened on March 14, about 1am. A breath test showed 61 micrograms of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.
Suzanne Mugford, defending, told magistrates her client said he had drunk around three-and-a-half pints earlier that evening. Later, he was dropping a friend off in his boss’s van, believing he was fit to drive at the time.
He did not know his licence had been revoked.
