Passengers escaped injury earlier this afternoon after the tram they were on was involved in a collision with a car in Cleveleys.
The accident happened at the junction of Rossall Road and Victoria Road West at around 2.15pm, with an investigation now underway into the cause, police said.
Bob Mason, service delivery director at Blackpool Transport, said transport workers were called to the scene to assess the damage to the supertram, with preparations being made to move it out of the road and back to a nearby stop.
The engineers will then work on getting the vehicle, which has suffered damage to its side doors, back to the tram depot, Mr Mason added.
As a result of the crash, trams were unable to run between Cleveleys and Thornton Gate for a period, with a split service operated between Starr Gate and Little Bispham, and Thornton Gate and Fleetwood Ferry.
The track was cleared by 3.20pm, though further delays were expected.
Bus routes 1, 3, 4, 7, 9, and 9a were also experiencing delays, Blackpool Transport tweeted.
