A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as part of an investigation into injuries suffered by a baby in Blackpool.

Three people were arrested over the weekend after the one-month-old baby boy was found with a serious head injury.

Now a fourth person, a 32-year-old man, is in custody waiting to be questioned by detectives.

Police and paramedics were called to a house on Charles Street at around 1am on Sunday.

The baby boy was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital before being transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, in Liverpool, where he remains in a ‘poorly’ condition, according to police.

Two men, aged 18 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of wounding on Sunday. They both remain in custody.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of wounding and has been released on bail. All three are from Blackpool.

Police have today arrested a fourth person as part of the on-going investigation.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “The man, aged 32 and from Blackpool, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a Class A drug, cocaine. He is currently in custody.

“Inquiries are continuing.”
