Villagers in St Michael’s are able to return to their homes after another flood warning evacuation.

The Environment Agency issued a severe flood warning for the area on Saturday night after a small leak was found in temporary flood defence repairs on the River Wyre.

The alert - the highest level suggesting danger to life - followed sustained heavy rainfall throughout the day.

Police advised affected residents meet at The Grapes pub while the situation was assessed, then opened a rest centre at Garstang Leisure Centre.

However, the flood defences held overnight and homes were unaffected.

No more heavy rainfall in the area is expected until Wednesday.
