A murder investigation is now underway after a man was stabbed in Blackpool last night.
Police were called to a house on Station Road, South Shore, at 10.36pm.
The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital by ambulance and was pronounced dead a short time later.
A 24-year-old man from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, with chest injuries.
Two properties on the street were taped off on the road while police remained at the scene today.
One female hotelier said: "They shut the road from about 10.30pm until 4.30am. There was tape across the road and they were turning cars around. They were going down the alleyway behind the flats."
Hotelier Denise Harrison, who lives one door down from one of the taped off properties, said: "There was plenty of police last night and this morning. I saw the police car packed in the back alleyway about midnight, and there was four police men and women, a couple running one way and a couple running the other. Then 10 minutes later it was like a disco dance with all the blue lights flashing."
Another hotelier said he saw 'two ambulances and four or five police cars and vans' on the street around midnight.
Detective inspector Mark Dickinson, of Blackpool police, said: “First of all, my thoughts are with the man’s family at this incredibly tragic time.
“While we have made an arrest, we are still keen to hear from anyone with any information which could assist with our investigation.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log number 1805 of July 27.
