A lorry hit a barrier in Bispham Road, Bispham, leaving the road blocked earlier this afternoon.

Officers were called at 2.15pm to reports of the crash, which happened at the mini-roundabout at the junction with Moor Park Avenue.

Nobody was injured, a police spokeswoman said, but traffic was affected until the lorry was removed shortly before 3.15pm.

One witness said the crash led to 'mayhem' nearby, while a picture sent in by photographer Andy Caddick showed the damage caused.

Blackpool Transport said it had been forced to divert its number nine service via Devonshire Road.

Firefighters and police officers were at the scene, where a number of passers-by had gathered. Motorists were told to use alternative routes until the road was clear again.
