These two super slimmers are looking forward to helping others have a new start this new year.

Stacey English and Vicky Johnson will be running their own Slimming World groups, hoping they can help others succeed at losing weight, just like they have.

Mum-of-one Vicky, from
Bispham, said before shedding a stone – so far – on the plan, she would never have had the confidence to think about standing up in front of a room full of people, but now she can’t wait to get started.

Vicky, 41, who works part-time for a medical company, said: “During the winter, you can sort of wear big clothes and not really notice how much weight you’ve put on.

“But in the summer, I went to put on shorts and a T-shirt and they just wouldn’t fit.

“I decided to join Slimming World and haven’t looked back since.

“One of the area managers visited one day and asked if anyone would be interested in becoming a consultant – and I felt I would. I’ve found it really easy to follow – you can still eat as much as you want and whatever you want.

“It’s about how you make and cook foods and making them healthier.

“You never feel deprived or like you’re on a diet. I’ve done other diet plans before and they didn’t really work for me.

“I’ve lost a stone and dropped nearly two dress sizes.

“Physically, I’m now much more active as I have more energy. I enjoy taking the dog for walks with my daughter – I didn’t really do that before.

“My confidence has been boosted. I feel great and I want to be able to help people the way Slimming World has helped me.”

Her groups run on Saturday mornings, at 9.30am, at Anchorsholme Methodist Church, North Drive.

And Stacey – who was prompted to lose weight to fit into her bridesmaid dress for her sister-in-law’s wedding – says she no longer has to “put on a front.”

Mum Stacey, of Fleetwood, said she had often been upset about her weight, sometimes “reduced to tears.”

She described herself as feeling like the woman in the film 27 Dresses – being bridesmaid for many of her friends, but always waiting for her turn.

And after a bridesmaid dress wouldn’t fit her, she decided to take action.

After her first child, Lily – now 21 months – was born, Stacey joined Slimming World. And while she was nervous, she found it “too good to be true.”

“I felt so at home, I couldn’t believe I was never going to be hungry.”

She lost just under a stone-and-a-half in seven weeks.

After becoming pregnant again, she was worried her bridesmaid dress for the next wedding wouldn’t fit.

But she was able to follow the Slimming World plan throughout her pregnancy, and lost any extra baby weight six weeks after giving birth.

She’s gone from a size 18 to 14 – she’s halfway to her weight loss target. She said: “Support was key for me, I couldn’t have done it without the group.

“I really am so happy now, I no longer put on a front. I have more energy with the children and I can feel my confidence grow. I cannot wait to wear my dream dress for my own dream wedding – it’s finally happening to me!”

Stacey’s groups will be held on Monday and Thursday
evenings, at 7pm, at Fleetwood Bowling Club.
