Two search and rescue operations launched over 'concerns for safety'

Two search and rescue operations were launched overnight after police received concerns for safety on the Fylde Coast, says the coastguard.

Lifeboats launched for first time at around 9.30pm on Sunday following reports of a person possibly in the sea between Central and North Pier.

A thorough search was conducted of the area by lifeboats and coastguard rescue teams while police searched the shore.

A spokesman for the coastguard confirmed that the person was found safe and well in another location.

RNLI Lifeboats launched for a second time at around 12.30am on Monday after a second person was reported in the sea near the Imperial.

A spokesman for the coastguard said: "Both D class lifeboats launched and searched the area thoroughly before the casualty was found elsewhere by police.

"A busy and tiring night for our team and all the other 999 services that responded."

Police confirmed a man in his 20s was located in the Dickson Road area following a concern for safety.

The man was reportedly "safe and well."
