Two in court over Sainsburys security van robbery

Two men accused of aiding the armed robbers who stole £60,000 from a security van delivering cash to a Fylde supermarket have appeared in court.

Aaron Boyle, 31, of Aske Avenue, and Daniel Pennington, 23, of Edge Hill Close, both of Salford, are charged with assisting in the commission of the robbery at Sainsburys, St Andrews Road North, on September 9, 2013.

The pair are charged with assisting in the commission of the robbery by providing vehicles between August 25 and September 14 last year.

Prosecuting, Pam Smith asked for the case to go to crown court.

The defendants did not indicate a plea to the offence.

Blackpool magistrates ordered the defendants to appear at Preston Crown Court on May 1.

Boyle, who appeared before the court via video-link, was remanded in custody and Pennington was bailed.
