Fylde Sharks, which provides swimming instruction and events at the YMCA pools in St Annes and Kirkham is looking for fresh blood for its board of trustees amid a number of impending retirements.

Charity rules say that a minimum number of five is required and officials are anxious to make sure they adhere to that stipulation as its services continue to florish.

“We are currently taking 66 children every weekend at St Annes and Kirkham and we have enough coaches to meet that demand,” said acting secretary Pam Young.

“But a number of trustees are considering or on the process of stepping down from their roles and we would like to hear from anyone interested in joinging the committee.

People who have worked with children would be especially welcome but it doesn’t require any particular experience nor is it that demanding in terms of time.

“But trustees are vital to the structure of the club and we hope there are people out there who can help.”

The Sharks, founded eight years ago, have their sights set on expanding their range of pursuits, including the prospect of offering snorkelling lessons, and are also keen to hear from prospective volunteers who can help the swimming teachers with poolside and clerical duties.

Anyone who can help by becoming a trustee or volunteer should contact Pam on 01253 712154 or 07922 522895.
