Tributes to Forton woman killed in collision
A family has paid tribute after a pensioner died in a road crash.
Motorist Angela Murphy, 77, from Forton, died along with her 76-year-old passenger after a crash on the A6 at Catterall.
Her family said: “Angela was a widow, who had cared for her husband at home for a number of years until his death three years ago.
“Although a quiet person she had many good friends in the area and was very well respected by everyone in the local community.
“She was a very charitable person and was always willing to help anyone wherever she could.
“She was a good friend to everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by all.” Police are appealing for information following the accident, which happened at around 9.45am on July 3.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 24-year-old man from Blackpool, suffered a suspected broken ankle.
He was later treated at Royal Preston Hospital. Sgt Dave Hurst, of Lancashire Police, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with the family and friends of both women.
“We are appealing for witnesses to come forward and want to speak to anyone who can assist our investigation.”
