Tribute to stars at Palace

Tribute is to be paid to a group of the Fylde coast's most famous stars during an evening of entertainment in St Annes.

Bobby Ball, Amanda Barrie, Jenny Eclair and Roy Harper, along with the late George Formby, Les Dawson, Josef Locke and Al Read, will all be celebrated at Saturday’s event at The Palace in Garden Street.

Along with a George Formby tribute act, the evening will feature BBC archive film clips of all eight celebrities and live input from those who have known or worked with them.

Proceeds will go to Variety, The Children’s Charity and St Annes In Bloom.

Tickets, price £5, are selling fast but some are still available from the Pavilion café in Ashton Gardens.

The event is being supported by the organisers of the St Annes Music and Arts Festival, which opens on Friday evening and continues through the rest of the weekend.

More than 20 acts will feature on stage in Ashton Gardens over the three days, with free performances from 5pm to 9pm on Friday and 11.45am, to 9pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Blackpool band Touch The Pearl will top the bill on the final evening.

Musical performances will also feature throughout the weekend at other venues around town.

They include the Pavilion Cafe, the No 15 pub and the Urban Arts Studio, while a crafts, arts and market fair will offers a wide variety of stalls in Ashton Gardens from 10.30am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
