A group of travellers have appeared on land in Blackpool – just 24 hours after another group arrived in a resort car park.

Around eight caravans – as well as dogs and horses – were spotted on land close to Stanley Park’s model village today.

The group has since moved to Lawson Field off Lawson Road.

The arrival comes a day after dozens of caravans appeared on South Car Park, off Yeadon Way.

Insp Jo Jackson, of Blackpool Police, confirmed council officers had met with the group on Lawson Field.

She added: “The group had appeared near the model village in Stanley Park.

“They have now been moved across the road. Discussions are ongoing about trying to move them.

“We are monitoring their behaviour with the council doing the negotiations.”

A spokesman for Blackpool Council said officers had visited the Yeadon Way site and issued a notice to the travellers ordering them to leave by teatime on Friday. Some caravans were still on the land last night at 6pm.
