A motorway crash involving five vehicles on the M6 - including at least two HGVs - left two lanes closed earlier.

The accident happened at junction 31 northbound for Preston at around 6.50pm, during a period of heavy rain.

Lancashire Police's force incident manager, Nick Everett, said nobody was seriously hurt, though traffic was suffering as a result of the smash.

One person is understood to have suffered minor injuries.

The force's motorway policing unit tweeted at 7.12pm and said all the vehicles involved had been moved to the hard shoulder.
