Work on Kirkham Road in Treales is expected to be carried out from Monday, April 6 to Thursday, April 9 to allow Electricity North West to work on a new connection.

The electricity company needs to excavate around five metres of the road as well as the verge and footpath to complete the work. A closure will be put in place between Carr Lane and Church Road.

As well as being the village’s main thoroughfare, it’s also heavily used by other residents who live in the Fylde and Wyre countryside.

The plan to go ahead with the work comes as the council announces it is operating a small service than normal due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The spokesman for the council said: “We are currently operating a reduced highways service focused on responding to issues which are critical to safety, such as winter gritting, fixing potholes, and repairs to traffic signals and streetlights.

“This means that repairs to minor issues which are not vital to safety, and planned work such as resurfacing of roads and improvements to bridges, has been suspended for now.”

The spokesman added that the council have put in arrangements so workers can maintain social distancing while working as well as travelling to and from council depots.

Already, planned roadworks across Wyre and Fylde have been postponded due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Work scheduled by the council for Rossall Lane in Fleetwood, on April 6 and 7, will be rescheduled.

The closure, from Fairhaven Avenue to Broadway was to allow resurfacing works to take place close to the Broadway junction.

These roadworks will now take place at a later date due to the reduced service.
