And Tracy, 40, says husbang Ultan and eight-year-old son Cian were lucky to excape unscathed.

She said: “I don’t know how the driver of the car could just carry on.

“She must know she’s hit something. When you accidentally back into your wheelie bin there’s a thump.

“She’s hit the bollard so hard it’s flown 60 or 70 metres and hit another car.

“It’s damaged her own car.

“Why would you not stop to see what you’ve hit?

“It could have been my son and my husband.”

Ultan and Cian were just feet away when the car mounted the pavement.

And the incident has left a mark on Tracy’s son.

She said: “He was afraid to walk to school on Monday.

“They were just walking along the road. They could easily have been hit.

“How can this driver think what she has done is OK?

“We want to catch her, she could do it again and somebody else might not be so lucky.”

Lancashire Police confirmed it is investigating an incident in which a car mounted the pavement.
