Man taken to hospital after BMW driver flees scene of crash on Blackpool Prom

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, near the Gynn Square tram stop in North Shore, at around 6.30pm.
A BMW and a Renault Clio were involved in the crash, outside the Savoy Hotel, which closed the road until around 7.15pm.

Hide AdThe driver of the Renault, a man in his 20s, was stretchered into an ambulance after firefighters freed him from the wrecked Clio using a long board.
He was then taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with back injuries.
The driver of the BMW - a woman - is reported to have made off from the scene, but was later stopped by police.
She has been reported for driving without due care.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at around 6.35pm to Queens Promenade to reports of a collision involving two cars – a Clio and a BMW.

Hide Ad"The male driver of the Clio suffered back injuries but is not thought to be too badly hurt.
"The female driver of the second car made off from the scene but has been reported for driving without due care."
An ambulance spokesman added: "We received a call reporting a road traffic collision at 6:42pm, one ambulance attended the scene.
"One patient: a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital."
Queens Promenade was closed for around 45 minutes whilst emergency services worked at the scene.

Hide AdA spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Two fire crews from Blackpool and Bispham attended a road traffic collision on Queens Promenade in Blackpool.
"The collision involved two vehicles on the roadway.
"Firefighters assisted in releasing a trapped casualty using a long board.
"Ambulance crews then transferred the casualty to hospital. Firefighters were in attendance around forty minutes."
