Girl, 15, taken to hospital after car crashes into Blackpool shop front

A 15-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after a car mounted the pavement and crashed into a shop front in Blackpool last night (Monday, December 14).

Emergency services rushed to the scene after the car crashed into Pelo hair dressers in Church Street at 8.45pm.

Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the scene, where a 15-year-old was found inside a Volkswagen Golf with injuries to her arm.

The teenager was treated at the scene before she was taken to hospital for further treatment.

A police spokesman said: "We were called around 8.35pm yesterday (Monday, December 14) after a car was involved in a collision with a building in Church Street, Blackpool.

"Emergency services attended with a 15-year-old girl suffering an arm injury. She was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances around the collision."

Police added that no-one has been arrested in connection with the crash.

An ambulance spokesman added: "We were called at 8.24pm to reports of a car that had been driven through a shop front.

"We attended with a rapid response car and assessed walking wounded at the scene, they included a teenage girl."

A fire service spokesman said: "Blackpool firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Church Street in Blackpool.

"The incident involved a car which had collided with a shop front. One casualty was treated by paramedics at the scene.

"Firefighters made the scene safe and helped ensure the building was secure. They were in attendance approximately thirty minutes."
