Police have named the cyclist who died after colliding with a car in Garstang as Anthony McDermott.

Mr McDermott, 25, was riding his bike along the A6 at Garstang when he was in a collision with a Honda Jazz, which was being driven by a 42-year-old woman, at around 10.15pm.

Police say he had ridden out of the grounds of the Crofters Hotel at the time of the impact on Preston Lancaster New Road.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with multiple injuries, where he died on Friday morning.

The driver of the Honda was treated at the scene for shock, but was uninjured.

Sgt James Power from the Road Policing Unit said: “I would appeal to anybody that witnessed this collision to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”

The road was closed at Lancaster Road and Croston Road for around three hours while police investigated the scene.
