Boy, six, flown to Alder Hey after collision

A young boy was airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital yesterday following a collision with a car in St Annes.

The youngster was left with head injuries after the crash, in St George’s Road, at around 2pm.

His condition is understood to be serious, with the specialist Merseyside hospital put on standby for his arrival.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said a rapid response car and an ambulance also attended the scene, and said the boy was reported to be six-years-old.

The road was closed by police after the collision for accident investigation work to be carried out.

Nobody else is understood to have been hurt.
