A DRIVER is fighting for his life in intensive care after his car crashed on the M6.

The 26-year-old man, from Thornton, suffered head injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital after he lost control of his BMW car and rolled down an embankment at 7.10pm on Monday.

Police believe he was going home from work in lane three, prior to the exit slip road at Junction 29, when the car mounted the kerb and rolled several times before colliding with trees and coming to a stop.

An investigation is underway and police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

The man remains in a critical condition with his parents by his bedside.

The motorway was closed for four hours on Monday night to allow for a collision investigation.

Call police on 101.
