Police confirmed the M55 westbound had been closed from junction 4 (Marton Interchange) due to the collision this evening (January 13).

The incident, which occurred at around 5.30pm, caused traffic to build in the area, with police urging motorists to find alternative routes.

But officers have confirmed the carriageway has now fully reopened.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "With regards to our earlier post about Junction 4 of the M55, this has now been fully reopened.

"Thank you for your understanding and patience during this closure."
