Airport’s future debated in Parliament

THE long-term future of Blackpool Airport was brought up in a Parliamentary debate.

Fylde MP Mark Menzies asked the Secretary of State for Transport what steps were being taken to look after Blackpool and other regional airports.

Transport minister Michael Penning said: “We recognise the vital contribution regional airports make.

“The Government is currently developing a framework for UK aviation which will support economic growth and address aviation’s environmental impacts.

“We will publish the framework for consultation in March 2012.
