Commercial flights are on the horizon for Blackpool Airport again after one of the terminal’s biggest customers said it would be “delighted” to return.

David Buck, managing director of Isle of Man-based Citywing, said it was great news that moves were afoot to get the airport operational once again. And, speaking exclusively to The Gazette, he said his company would jump at the chance to return to Squires Gate.

Mr Buck said: “We would be delighted to come back to Blackpool. It would depend on the costs, of course, but we would love to fly from there once again. We were very sorry to see Blackpool close.”

Citywing was forced to suspend its operations from Blackpool when the airport’s operating company Blackpool Airports Ltd was put into liquidation with debts of up to £34m some 35 days ago.
