Paramedics treated a woman in her mid-30s for a chest injury before taking her to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, a spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said.

Firefighters were called as a precaution after one of the vehicles was seen smoking after the accident, a spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service added.

Blackpool Transport said its number 19 bus service would terminate at the nearby hospital, while its two service would be diverted along St Walburgas Road and Garstang Road.
