Trespasser causes rush hour chaos on rails

Rail services between Blackpool and Preston are being delayed due to a trespass incident at Poulton.

Trains were stopped early this morning following reports of a person on the tracks.

Problems continue through the rush hour with services currently running around 15 minutes behind schedule.

Network Rail are expecting trains to return to normal at around 10am.

British Transport police said a search of the area around Poulton station had taken place.

The person involved was eventually located and led safely away from the railway.

A spokesman said: “We were made aware of an incident shortly before 5.30am involving a person lineside, near Poulton-le-Fylde station.

“Colleagues from Lancashire Police and the North West Ambulance Service attended and a man was located and taken to hospital for assessment.”
