Road closed by head-on smash

Both drivers escaped without serious injury following a head-on crash in Blackpool

The smash happened at around 10am today in Chapel Road, Marton.

A green Seat Leon and a white Volkswagen Golf collided causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Airbags were activated and nobody was seriously hurt.

The road was closed for around 45 minutes while the two cars were recovered and the scene was cleared.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "Thankfully there were only minor injuries due to modern vehicle safety equipment."
