Police officers were called to Fairfield Road, in Singleton, after the car was seen leaving the road at around 10.30am by a passer-by, a spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said.

Paramedics were called at 11.15am and took a man to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with minor injuries, a spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) added.

He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving but has yet to be booked into custody, police added.

The car was recovered.
