Man taken to hospital after crash near Big Blue Hotel

A man was taken to hospital following a crash in South Shore, say Ambulance Services.

The accident happened at around 8.15am on Tuesday, July 24 near to the Big Blue Hotel on Clifton Drive.

Fire crews were called to the scene after a car reportedly left the road and entered the car park of the hotel.

Crew Manager Craig Wilkinson said: "Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt in the crash.

"It seems that one car left the road and ended up in the car park of the hotel.

"The car was quite badly damaged.

"We were called initially because people thought the car was on fire after the airbags were set off - but it was just the talc.

"Nobody was trapped."

Crews spent around 30 minutes at the scene making it safe.
