Crews from Bispham and Fleetwood fire stations were called to Poulton Road at around 9.06pm yesterday after a green Vauxhall Vectra and silver Toyota Starlet collided near the Co-operative Funeral Care.

The man, who was complaining of neck and hand injuries, had to be cut free because damage to the door meant it would not open, police said.

“Firefighters awaited the arrival of paramedics who assessed the casualty before crews were able to extricate them,” a spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said.

“They used lighting equipment and a hearth kit at the scene. The casualty was then left in the care of paramedics.”

Police say the man only suffered minor injuries, but were unable to give more details.
