Investigation after car fire in Warton

Crews from Lytham were called out to the incident off Carr Lane at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 16.

Firefighters arrived to find the field was full of cows who were described as being in a "skittish" mood.

With the assistance of the farmer, crews made the field safe by moving the cows and set about tackling the blaze.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "The car had been abandoned in a field full of cows and was well alight when we arrived.

"There were around 20 cows there, so for the safety of the cows and ourselves we moved them with the help of the farmer.

"We used hand tools and extinguishers due to access issues to extinguish the fire.

No members of the public, firefighters or cows were injured in the incident, so it was a successful outcome all round."

Crews spent around an hour and a half at the incident.

The car was completely destroyed.

A joint police and fire service investigation is now underway.
