Blackpool will play host this weekend to a wedding fair with a bit of a difference.

The Official UK Gay Wedding Show is coming to The Imperial Hotel, North Promenade, on Sunday.

This month will see the first same-sex marriages take place in England and Wales. And the 11-year-old wedding show is celebrating with a roadshow, stopping at major UK towns and cities for the first time.

The event, which will run between noon and 3pm, will feature stands and exhibitors from specialist suppliers to help same-sex couples plan their big day and make it an extra special event they will never forget.

Those who attend will have access to everything from wedding planners and florists to caterers and legal advice on equality issues.

There will be suppliers from every area of the wedding industry, many specialising in catering to gay or lesbian weddings, adding those personal touches and important fine details to make the day that all the more special for couples.

John Dixon, founder of Count Me In Events, and NotJustTravel Rainbow – which provides same-sex travel and event planning – said: “We are delighted to have been chosen and entrusted to bring these shows on the road in this monumental year for same-sex couples.

“With the first wave of gay weddings set to take place in the next few weeks, we are set to see a surge in wedding providers specialising in catering to LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) clients and we are thrilled to be enabling the Official UK Gay Wedding Show to reach new destinations across the country.

“Last weekend we went to the Queens Hotel, Leeds, where demand was so great we are already booking for a bigger show in March 2015. The feedback from visitors and exhibitors after the show is both phenomenal and heart-warming.

“All our wedding shows are free entry and you can just arrive on the day, or reserve free tickets on our website.”

Blackpool registrars will be exhibiting at the event and will hold seminar at 1pm and 2pm in the Concord Room.

There will be live entertainment and refreshments available throughout the day.
