There was drama just off Fleetwood town centre on Monday afternoon when a knifeman caused a side street to be cordoned off fo over an hour.
Police blocked off Kemp Street after the man produced a bladed weapon outside the town’s Job Centre and threatened to harm himself.
Staff in the Job Centre had to lock the doors while officers attempted to calm the man and persuade him to drop the knife.
The incident began at around 3.45pm and there was stand-off for just over an hour.
When the man eventually dropped the blade he was promptly arrested.
By Tuesday morning he was still in the cells and had not been charged with any offence.
Sgt Dan Whittaker of Fleetwood Police, said: “Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident.
“The man is to be formally interviewed and no charges have been brought at this time.”
Police have not yet been able to confirm the age of the man or if he is local.
